The Diocesan
       Choir

The Diocesan Choir, comprised of singers from throughout the diocese is accepting new members. The choir rehearses twice a month on Monday evenings. Good Samaritan

A Community Outreach Program in conjunction with Catholic Charities and Good Samaritan Medical Center is offering free physical examinations and medical screening for men and women, Thursdays, at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical
Center.Eligibility: 18 years or older, without funds or medical insurance, who are not regularly seen by a physician or clinic. For an appointment or more information call
376-3182 Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Visual Impairment

Free services to persons with visual impairment are offered through the Catholic Charities Office. Those who are blind or meet the definition of legal blindness can be evaluated at home and given the tools to organize their home and travel safety. Cenacle Retreat Center

Sharps Acceptance Program

As part of its infection control program, and in accordance with Department of Health standards, our Lady of Consolation Nursing Center will be accepting sharps (i.e. needles, syringes and lancets) from members of the local community who use them for medical self-maintenance. The used sharps may be delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the security office at Our Lady of Consolation. Sharps will only be accepted in shatterproof, leak -proof and puncture resistant liquid laundry detergent containers that are tightly capped. FREE FOOD

Free Food, and nutrition education, is available from the Food and Nutrition Program (FAN) for infants, children-to 6 birthday-(not on WIC), plus pregnant, or LIP to one year postpartum women, or Seniors-age 60 or over, who are income eligible. Each month 17,000 eligible participants in Nassau and Suffolk receive by category, a supplemental food package. Depending on category, the Free Food packages can include: infant formula, cereal, juice, cheese and canned: fruits, vegetables, meats, and more. FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM

The Foster Grandparent Program is looking for volunteers throughout Suffolk County to work one- to one with a child in a local school or day care center. Dominican Village Seeks Volunteers

Dominican Village, a "retirement community for seniors" needs dedicated people to share their time and talent with those who live here. Sometimes, as we mature, it becomes difficult to do little things writing a birthday card, or read a letter or do a little shopping. Maybe help with birthday parties, teaching new games or just engaging in conversation. Maybe you can come once a month, once a week, maybe for an hour. Whatever you can do will be appreciated. VOL UNTEERS NEEDED/Birthright Inc.

Birthright is in need of volunteers for our office and thrift shop. If you are interested and can commit four hours, 1 day a week, please call our Islip Office, 277-3888, leaving your phone number for Peg Conlon. Birthright provides counseling, positive alternatives to abortion and other help to women! girls distressed by a pregnancy. Support Group

Coping with the death of a grandchild. A monthly support group for those who have experienced the death of a grandchild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 7pm to 8pm at 296 North Main Street in Sayville. Mass

Monthly Mass for individuals in any 12 Step Recovery Program: Mass will be celebrated on the first Sunday of each month for individuals involved in any 12 Step Program - family and friends invited. Professional Therapy and Counseling

Family, marriage and individual therapy, provided by licensed Doctors of Psychology, are available to our parish. If you prefer you may be seen at any of the other 70 participating parishes. This program, under the direction of Doctor George Giuliani, has been conducted in the diocese by the Catholic Counseling Center for the past 27 years for the convenience of parishioners and is a proprietary professional corporation, independent of and not controlled or supervised by the parish or the diocese.
